I forbindelse med et norgesopphold i vår kommer Professor Steven Wolf på besøk til oss på Ruralis, onsdag 11. april 2018. I løpet av 90 minutter vil han holde et åpent seminar med innlegg og tid til diskusjon.

Tema: “Critical analysis of social regulation of agrifood.”
Abstract:
A critically informed assessment of agrifood governance requires a theoretical treatment of social regulation and an empirical review of resistance (i.e., sites and results of social struggles). This talk builds on the analysis presented by Alessandro Bonanno in our recently co-edited volume, Resistance to the Neoliberal Agri-Food Regime: A Critical Analysis (Bonanno and Wolf, 2017, Earthscan/Routledge). Attention to the domains of culture, markets, policy, technology, and profession structure the analysis. My hope is that the seminar presentation will provoke a cross-national dialogue – USA and Norway – and allow us to jointly explore our capacity to generalize at global scale.
Steven Wolf
Steven Wolf er Associate Professor ved Department of Natural Resources, Cornell University. Hans forskning ligger i skjæringspunktet mellom sosiologi, geografi og naturressursforvaltning. Steven er en aktiv deltager og bidragsyter på rural og landbruks- og matsosiologi-feltet, både i Nord-Amerika og på den internasjonale arenaen. Han har skrevet mange artikler og redigert bøker og tidsskrift. Hans siste to bøker handler om det neo-liberale regime og innvirkning og motstand i agri-food-sektoren. Han er påtroppende president i RC-40 (forskningsgruppen for landbruk- og matsosiologi i den internasjonale sosiologiforeningen ISA).
