He received a doctoral degree (dr.polit.) in economic geography from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2006. Str\u00e6te has experience from research and development work in the areas of food-related restructuring and organisation of innovation in firms and organisations; structural changes and power in food supply chains; advisory service in agriculture; rural development; joint farming; rural tourism etc. His work has concentrated mainly on the food sector and agriculture, with a particular emphasis on the dairy sector. His general research interests are related to business development, regional development, rural development, and agriculture.
