In lowering post-harvest losses,\u00a0SolarFood\u00a0will contribute to addressing the issues of both food access \/ security and poverty reduction.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is to improve the nutritional content of solar dried foods and developing marketable products that can provide a new income stream for women-led agricultural cooperatives.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0SolarFood\u00a0project involves an international and interdisciplinary team of researchers, led by Ruralis \u2013 Institute for Rural and Regional Research in Norway. Partners include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lund University<\/li>\n<li>Jigme Namgyel Engineering College, Royal University of Bhutan<\/li>\n<li>Gedu\u00a0College of Business Studies, Royal University of Bhutan<\/li>\n<li>School of Management, Kathmandu University<\/li>\n<li>Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kathmandu University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SolarFood builds on two previous research projects, both led by Lund University. SolarFood\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ruralis.no\/en\/projects\/combined-solar-and-membrane-drying-technologies-for-sustainable-fruit-preservation-in-developing-countries-kombination-av-sol-och-membranteknik-for-torkning-och-konservering-av-frukt-pa-ett-hallbar\/\">1.0<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ruralis.no\/en\/projects\/solarfood-reducing-post-harvest-losses-through-improved-solar-drying\/\">2.0<\/a>\u00a0emphasized the development of solar-powered technologies.
