Deniz Akin
Deniz Akin is a researcher at Ruralis. She has an interdisciplinary research background within the fields of migration, gender equality and diversity, technology and society. She has a PhD degree from the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture, NTNU. She wrote her PhD dissertation on the cultural and legal challenges LGBTQ+ asylum seekers face in Norway. In recent years, she has researched about integration experiences of refugees who are LGBTQ+-, as well as living conditions of sexual minorities in district areas. Akin has a diverse research portfolio that includes, but not limited to, research on sharing economy, social innovation and gender-segregated labour market.
