Conceptions of centre and periphery and the transforming power of mobility – Rural mobilitet

About the project

The main objective of this project is to develop new knowledges on how changing mobility patterns challenge conceptions and imaginations about centre and periphery. Sub-goals: 1. To analyse how notions of ‘centre’ and ‘periphery’ are articulated in Norwegian political discourses and incorporated in rural regional policies. 2. To work out cross-category mobilities and interactions. 3. To develop knowledge on how these new mobilities provide challenges and opportunities for peripheral communities in terms of public services, business, land use and identity formations. In what way are peripheral communities reconfigured by increased interaction? 4. To contruibute with new understandings of local strategies for the participation of a temporary population and investigate their relecancy. 5. To further develop theoretical perspectives on mobility and policy.
