Evaluation of the Common Agricultural Policy in Germany

Ruralis is participating in a comprehensive evaluation of how the objectives of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) are being met in Germany. The client is the German Ministry for Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (“Heimat”). The project will evaluate the period 2014-2022 and the specific strategy for the implementation of the CAP in Germany. The specific task of Ruralis is to conduct a counterfactual analysis with the European agricultural model CAPRI to assess whether the agricultural policy contributes to the goal of supporting viable agricultural incomes and a sustainable agricultural sector in order to strengthen long-term food security and a diverse agriculture as well as to ensure the economic sustainability of agricultural production. Ruralis, together with BOKU Vienna and IIASA, is a subcontractor of the Austrian Institute for Economic Research WIFO. WIFO, together with IfLS at the University of Frankfurt and USV-Agrar in Bonn, forms a consortium that leads the entire evaluation.
