Agroecological Pathways for Sustainable, resilient and diversified Dairy farming systems in Europe assisted by multicriteria assessment (DairyPathS)
DairyPathS supports Europe’s transition to sustainable, resilient and diverse dairy farming through regionally adapted agroecological practices.
A network of Living Labs in Italy, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Norway and Denmark will bring together farmers, researchers, advisers and policymakers to co-design, assess and scale locally relevant scenarios. These may include crop and landscape diversification, agroforestry, lower stocking rates and better integration of livestock, grasslands and crops. Environmental, economic and social effects will be evaluated using modelling, biodiversity and ecosystem-service assessments, and an improved DEXi-Dairy multicriteria tool.
The project will examine trade-offs, adoption barriers, farmer behaviour and climate impacts while strengthening science–policy dialogue. Its interactive platform, participatory strategies and practical recommendations will enable stakeholders to explore, adopt and scale viable agroecological solutions across European dairy systems beyond the project period.
