Survey data from 2006 show that almost 60 percent of Norwegian farmers are engaged in other economic activities than traditional farming. This means that farmers use the farms resources in many ways, and that the definition of the term “farmer” should be extended. To be a farmer involves more than producing food and fiber, and we ask whether creativity is one of the main characteristics of Norwegian farmers today.
