Arild Blekesaune has the degree Dr.Polit. in sociology, and has a part-time occupation as a research adviser at RURALIS beside his main occupation as a professor at the Department of Sociology and Political Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He has special expertise in quantitative research methods, rural sociology, and welfare sociology, and has published numerous articles on the basis of large data sets. Blekesaune has previously been full-time employed at the poll institute Norfakta (1988) and the Norwegian Centre for Rural Research (1989-1999).
