Logstein has a phd in sociology, from Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Norway, and a master of philosophy in health promotion from the University of Bergen (Norway). The title of her doctoral thesis, was Farmers and mental health: A quantitative study of factors associated with mental health of farmers in Norway.

Her research interests are animal welfare and the role of the livestock farmers in animal welfare, agricultural health, public health in general, and social and environmental sustainability in the agricultural sector.

For five years (2019-2023) she has been the project leader of the Norwegian project National Centre of Expertise for Occupational Health in Agriculture and the Department of Occupational Medicine at St. Olavs Hospital, Trondheim University Hospital.
