Consequences of backward integration and contract production in the milk and meat value chains. – Konsekvenser av baklengs integrasjon og kontraktproduksjon i verdikjedene for melk og kjøtt

In this project we ask what impact it will have on farm production and agricultural policy goals if Norwegian milk and meat producers become contract producers with direct supply contracts to the wholesalers owned and controlled by the four major supermarket chains in Norway. Contract manufacturing is now widespread among producers of potatoes and vegetables. By collecting experience and knowledge from this sector, we want to highlight the challenges that rise from a similar value chain development within milk and meat production.
