Local agricultural policy – Kommunalisering Pluss

1 January 2004 Norwegian municipalities received more authority when it comes to agriculture and forestry. As a result of this reform they now administer most cases in relation to the Law of Concession, the Agriculture Law and the Forestry Law. They also assign funding from the Agricultural Development Fund (LUF). The aim of the reform is increased local business activity and development of farms as good residences and places to live. In the research project we study processes and outcomes of the reform in close co-operation with local politicians, business representatives, and agricultural and forestry consultants in selected municipalities and counties. Facilitation of learning on the background of the reform is emphasised through development of an instrument called ‘Learning Workshop.’
