Ruralis contributes with participatory research on the the national pilot project Lys i gamle hus (Light in abandoned houses), led by Fortidsminneforeningen (National Trust of Norway) and financed by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage.

Lys i gamle hus promotes re-use and building preservation in invited pilot municipalities through mapping and activation of empty houses (emphasizing new use) by creating interaction, dialogue and developing trust locally. The objective is to utilize empty houses and culture relics to create development, growth and vivid local communities.
