Maja Farstad

Senior Researcher - Phd (Sociology)

Maja Farstad has a PhD in sociology from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). She primarily works with sociological research questions at the micro level, within fields such as local community, agriculture and local management. In current projects, her research focuses on path dependency and lock-in in the beef/dairy value chain, significant to the climate challenges, as well as on the public’s view on society’s promised transition into the bio-economy. She has also taken over the responsibility for RURALIS’ own local community survey (LSU). Farstad’s dissertation from 2015 deals with the relation between second home owners and the host community, mainly focusing on moral considerations on second home owners’ position in the host community, when it comes to rights, influence and general regard.
