In this project, Ruralis and The Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) will evaluate climate advice as a new policy tool in agriculture.

The Norwegian Agricultural Extension Service (NLR), together with the national dairy coop Tine, have developed a model for offering farmers individual or group-wise climate advice at farm level as a three-year trial. By seeking climate advice, including an action plan for implementing mitigation and adaptation measures, the farmers receive an extra subsidy. The trial period and the subsidies are financed by the Directorate of Agriculture. As part of this new policy, NLR and Tine have educated advisors specializing within the climate field.

NIBIO and Ruralis will follow-up famers and advisors in the three-year trial period and conduct both surveys and in-depth interviews. NLR will act as an advisor throughout the trial period.
