Sunniva Midthaug Solnør

Sunniva Midthaug Solnør is a PhD fellow and researcher within qualitative methods with an interest in the relationship between people, society and nature. She has previously researched issues related to transition and climate adaptation in agriculture as well as in the blue economy and coastal communities.

Sunniva is currently involved in several research projects investigating land conflicts in Sami reindeer grazing areas in Trøndelag (JusticeFirst!), the potential for restoration of semi-natural habitats (RESTORE), and opportunities to strengthen resilience in coastal communities (BluePlaces).

In her doctoral project, Sunniva explore how Norwegian municipalities understand, prioritize, and manage tensions between nature concerns, climate change, and local development (The Role of Norwegian Municipalities in Addressing the Climate and Nature Crisis).

Sunniva has an academic background in sociology, social anthropology and religious studies. She has a master’s degree in sociology from NTNU, where she wrote her thesis on local resistance to wind power development.
