Evaluation of the Initiative Sustainable Food Production and Value Creation in the North
In this project, an evaluation is carried out of the area-focused initiative “Sustainable Food Production and Value Creation in the North.”
The scheme is administered by Troms County Council and financed through funds from the Agricultural Agreement, first allocated in 2022, along with county funds from Finnmark, Troms, and Nordland. The aim of the initiative is “to strengthen vulnerable producer communities in Finnmark, Troms, and Nordland, counteract farm closures, increase land use, and enhance the competence of the agricultural sector and the food value chain, as well as to exploit regional advantages and opportunities within Arctic agriculture,” as stated in the regulation governing the scheme.
The evaluation will assess the achievement of the scheme’s objectives, describe and discuss how its design and governance model function, and evaluate the potential impacts on farmers, production, and vulnerable areas through the implemented projects. The evaluation may also provide input and suggestions for improving the initiative.
